Scheduled for June 7-8, the upcoming Lake Race on Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks could have five of the world’s fastest offshore racing catamarans in its unlimited power/unlimited hull length “Run What You Brung” class, making it the largest “big boat” field so far this season. If all reported plans hold to form, the 44-foot Victory Miss GEICO,  the 48-foot Marine Technology, Inc., CMS, the 48-foot turbine-powered Miss Mary Mac MTI, the 40-foot Cat-Can-Do Skater and the 44-foot Marine Concepts MTI cats will battle one another in the event. (Total power in the twin-engine cats ranges from approximately 2,400 to 3,600 hp.)

In addition the biggest raceboats, the event will have eight other competitive classes including Super Cat, Super Vee Light and Super Stock—all classes under the Offshore Powerboat Association, which is sanctioning the event and lists it on its 2014 schedule. A current roster of teams registered for the event has not yet been posted on the Lake Race website.
