The 03 Wake Effects Catamaran proved, once again, exactly what it is capable of—an impressive win. In Michigan City, 03 Wake Effects was neck and neck with Cat Can Do, but drivers Rusty Rahm and Jeff Harris were able to dominate the race and take home first place!

A healthy mix of aggressive racing and consistent performances—with a few mechanical issues thrown in just for fun—were the main plotlines in Sunday’s Super Boat International eighth annual Super Boat Great Lakes Grand Prix in Michigan City, Ind. The double points event, which attracted 18 teams to the venue on the shores of Lake Michigan about 60 miles south of Chicago—the skyline of which was visible from the race site—featured two multi-class races on the 4.2-mile oval course.

The 48-foot MTI Wake Effects Catamaran ran neck and neck with Cat Can Do early on, but less than a third of the way through the 19-lap contest Cat Can Do pulled ahead of the Wake Effects cockpit duo of Rusty Rahm and Jeff Harris. Roughly two-thirds of the way through the race, one of the engines in American Ethanol/Cat Can Do emitted a puff of blue smoke, and the 40-footer slowed immediately and dropped off plane. Wake Effects took the lead and finished first.
