Although the 7 Mile Offshore Grand Prix in Marathon, FL did not go as planned, the weekend was still a good time for everyone to get together and kick off the offshore season. Despite unexpected circumstances, racers and fans made the most of the situation to create a memorable experience. Thankfully there were no serious injuries reported due to the occurrences that took place during the race.

When we hit the water on Sunday for the Stock 450 class race, MTI had three of our iconic boats participating in the competition. John Tomlinson and Taylor Scism took home a win as they raced in the beautiful 39-foot MTI. Recent additions to the class, Throttleman Nick Imprescia, and driver Ian Morgan raced in a 39-foot MTI, 151 Express bringing home second place. However, due to dangerous weather and unfortunate crashes, the competition had to be canceled for the rest of the day.

Even though they were not able to race, we were excited to have MTI entries in the Super Cat as well as the Super Stock class that we expect to see perform in the future.

Unfortunately, The #7 MTI won’t be in attendance for the race in Cocoa Beach, FL due to our 25th Anniversary event but we will be cheering on the other MTI’s that hit the water! However, Taylor Scism and John Tomlinson will resume racing at the next event on June 30-July 2 in Sarasota, FL . We hope to see you there! Stay tuned for more announcements on our website.
