Scism team is headed for Missouri for the Lake of The Ozarks Shootout, this time in an MTI 390X. After taking a break from the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout in 2020, MTI’s Randy and Taylor Scism will return to competition this weekend in the Central Missouri event with their canopied MTI 390X race boat powered by Mercury Racing 450R outboard engines. This year’s top-speed contest will be the third on their home-water in four years for the father-and-daughter duo.
“I’m not sure how fast we’ll be able to run this weekend but I’m looking forward to it,” said Taylor Scism. “We’re testing tomorrow morning.”
John Tomlinson, who is throttling the 39-footer in the new Factory 450R Stock catamaran class with Taylor Scism on the wheel this season, said he expects her and her well-known father—who’ll also handle throttling duties—to reach a top speed of around “115 mph.”
The upcoming Lake of the Ozarks Shootout actually is the third top-speed event this year for the father-and-daughter pairing. In April, they laid down a superb 160.1-mph run with her father in a 52-foot MTI catamaran powered by dual-calibration Mercury Racing 1550/1350 engines at the Desert Storm Poker Run Shootout in Lake Havasu City, Ariz.
