Marine Technology, Inc. seeks 3 full-time Master Boat Body Work and Fiberglass Technicians in Wentzville, Missouri to build and repair race and pleasure boats; perform patching/bodywork on plugs and custom boats; mixing and applying different fillers and leveling with air sander or block; modifying plugs and molds to make parts for new and/or custom boats.

Marine Technician
Positions available in Miami & Wentzville

Marine Technology is seeking individuals who have mechanical aptitude, good work ethics and integrity. Individuals will be trained at MTI who possess the following traits.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Basic knowledge of marine rigging and electronics installation
  • Troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of basic plumbing
  • Familiar with various power tools
  • Familiar with hoist systems & forklifts
  • Forklift certification is a plus

​Work Environment:

Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials.

Safety Requirements:

  • Must always be prepared to work safely and report any hazards to management.
  • Must understand basic terminology such as OSHA and other regulatory authorities.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment where designated, including but not limited to safety glasses, ear defenders, gloves, respirator etc.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to fully understand all company and work site safety requirements, rules and practices, equipment operating instructions, and documented health and safety requirements.

Sales Assistant

Job Summary: The sales assistant is responsible for creating and auditing production orders, facilitating change orders, and helping in all aspects of the marketing department. This person is the bridge from sales to production. The Sales Assistant is experienced in organization, time management, Microsoft suite, and focuses on supporting the sales/production team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creates files in Dropbox based on sales orders and contracts.
  • Manages a design calendar to ensure design meetings and production orders are done in a timely fashion.
  • Enters each new contract into the closing checklist and then audits that each step is completed.
  • Participate in design meetings and create change orders based on customer changes from original order sheet.
  • Create and audit production orders based on design meeting, change orders and order sheet.
  • Participate in pre-production meetings to go over build with production leads and answer any questions.
  • Order hulls using lamination order sheet, trailers, and motors.
  • Perform quality control and take photos of new boats before delivery.
  • Update used boat ads, pricing sheets and sales lead sheet.
  • Assist in the selling of apparel, ordering of welcome bags, and factory tours.
  • Assist in logistics for customer related events.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience in the industry is preferred
  • Good verbal and written communications.
  • Technical boating knowledge and experience.
  • Possess understanding of purchase orders and contracts.
  • Possess ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Must live in the St. Louis area or be willing to relocate and report daily to the Wentzville office.
  • Proficient in Excel and Word Documents.
  • Self-Starter.
