MTI Announces New 480 Catamaran During 25th Anniversary Celebration

With more than 250 members of the Marine Technology Inc. family on hand to celebrate the Wentzville, Mo., company’s 25th anniversary this evening at Camden on the Lake Resort in Lake Ozark, Mo., MTI founder Randy Scism announced that the manufacturer is developing a new 48-foot inboard-powered catamaran.

Called a 480, the new model features totally new tooling and molds and a completely updated cockpit design from the company’s traditional 48-foot catamaran that was a huge seller MTI for many years. Along with a longer running surface and a wider tunnel than the previous 48-footer, the 480 has a new deck and a shorter bustle.

According to Scism, who said the last new sterndrive-powered catamaran MTI introduced was the 52 more than 10 years ago, the 480 should have improved handling and performance.
