Based on unofficial results, the #03 Wake Effects MTI Took SBI National Championship Title and #3 CMS Offshore Racing MTI took FIRST PLACE in the Clearwater Grand Prix for the Superboat Unlimited Class!
The Wake Effects MTI Catamaran will be just one of the six Superboat Unlimited-class teams on the water for this weekend’s Super Boat National Championships in Clearwater, Fla. There are 28 teams signed up on the Superboat Unlimited-class teams entry list as of September 19, 2016. Several MTI catamarans will be making a splash in Clearwater Florida, including 03 Wake Effects with driver Rusty Rahm, 3 CMS with driver Bob Bull, 7 Team CRC – Sunlight Supply with driver Gary Ballough, and 33 Sailor Jerry/AutoNation with driver Todd Beckman.

The team’s new boat is an MTI 52-footer that accommodates six people strapped into custom-designed suspension seats in the enclosed cockpit. It flies the Aqua-Mania name and has six fuel tanks with an overall capacity of 1,016 gallons. Power is provided by twin turbine engines maintained mated to BPM surface drives. Merola asked MTI to raise the tunnel by 2 inches to help spill the air when the boat hits extremely high speeds. It must have worked because the second time out, with six people aboard, he and Rosen hit 201 mph.
The Lake of the Ozarks Shootout is essentially a home event for Marine Technology Inc, and always a highly-anticipated one at that. There was an obvious sense of excitement amongst Randy Scism, the owner and founder of MTI in Wentzville, Mo., and Tom Stuart, the company’s Sales and Client Relations, at the docks of one MTI’s best customers when we were standing next to the very first 340X catamaran. And for good reason.
